Like all worldviews, modernism is now in a time of transition. After roughly two hundred years of modern thinking and advancement, new generations are emerging that have begun to question modern tenets. Those growing up in the 1960s observed that the tremendous advancements of science did not necessarily make the world a better place. War, famine, disease, and poverty still exist. People still have an innate longing for something beyond themselves; something they do not have to explain. Science was supposed to answer these life problems, but it could not. Thus, the 1960s and 1970s saw a rise in spiritual quests. People became intrigued by the idea of a mystical, spiritual side to life—one that needed no scientific proof, only experiential proof. The subjectivity that made religion weak in modernism has made it hugely popular in postmodernism...
