Google suspended one of it's engineers after he argued that their AI system LaMDA was showing signs of conciousness. Google has since denied LaMDA's sentience, a response which has raised suspicions over how far they have actually come in their AI development. We dive into this story, and what it would mean for an Artificial Intelligence system to gain sentience.
