Driver training is a fairly overlooked and unregulated process. Many of us first learn to driver from our parents or guardians for a majority of the mandated hours under government L-plate schemes; but does the ability to drive automatically give you the ability to teach and pass on good driving behaviours? Not necessarily.
In this episode we sit down with Gene Corbett, the Managing Director of Total Driver Australia, to discuss how driver training - for drivers and driving instructors alike - can be a preventative force in the fight against road fatalities. With over 15 years experience under his belt, Gene walks us through something called 'the default', the importance of practical behavioural changes even before a driver steps in the car, and how such changes to the way we teach drivers behind a wheel can decrease crash rates in some of our most vulnerable.
