Loyalty Termite

Is My Brick House in Delaware and Pennsylvania, Termite-Proof? Think Again!

Listen Later

Hey folks! Welcome to the Loyalty Termite & Pest Control Podcast! I’m your host,

Ceyron Cran, and today we’re busting a big myth: “My house is made of brick, so I
can’t get termites.”
Spoiler alert: You absolutely can. Let’s break down why.

Brick Homes Still Have Vulnerable Entry Points

Termites don’t care what the outside of your house looks like. What they care about is
what’s behind it. Most brick homes are built on wooden framing, and termites are pros
at finding a way inside.
They’ll enter through:
Gaps in foundation walls
Plumbing or HVAC penetrations
Expansion joints
Cracks as thin as 1/32 of an inch
Once in, they feed on the wood framing, flooring, and insulation—completely hidden
behind that beautiful brick façade.

Why This Region’s Soil Makes It Worse

Subterranean termites thrive in the moist, loamy soil found throughout Delaware and

Pennsylvania. If you don’t have a proper barrier or treatment plan in place, your home’s
structure is at risk—brick or not.

Ceyron’s Expert Tip: Look at the Mulch Line

Most homeowners don’t realize this: Stacked mulch up against the brick foundation
can create a moist runway right into your home. Keep mulch 12–18 inches away
from the brick line and at least 6 inches below the sill plate.

Wrapping It Up

So, whether your house is brick, stone, or stucco—if it has wood in its bones,
termites are interested. At Loyalty, we specialize in protecting homes that seem "safe"
from pests—but aren’t.
Call us today at 302-386-3999 for an inspection, and we’ll show you what’s really going
on behind those walls.
Until next time, this is Ceyron Cran reminding you: Even brick can break if termites
move in. Stay proactive, stay protected, and stay loyal.
