Is outsourcing storytelling admitting defeat?

There is no wrong or right answer to the question of outsourcing storytelling and copywriting but one thing I am certain of, we are not super heroes. We cannot be good at everything, all of the time. There is no weakness in asking for help. In fact, it can be such a smart business move, it’s quite the opposite.

If you’re unsure about investing in someone to help you (storytelling or otherwise) here are a few questions for you to consider:

  • What would it cost you to do it yourself? Your immediate thought might be ‘well nothing, it’s just me.” So break it down.
  • What would it cost you in time? And what is it taking you away from?
  • And what about the cost to your sanity? The stress of doing something that isn’t your main strength and isn’t the reason you got into business may actually prevent you ever launching that new course, pressing go-live on your website or starting the community group that you feel so passionate about.
