Welcome all to IS PHARMACOLOGY DIFFICULT Podcast! I am Dr Radhika Vijay, in today's episode, I will be talking further about the basic concepts based on pharmacokinetic grounds affecting the dosing schedules. Now, if the half life of a drug is about 24 hrs, then "half of the drug is given at every half life", this wonderful phenomenon is beautifully explained with the help of an example, rather a mathematical calculation which would simplify the whole idea very easily. Then I will narrate another concept as to if the half life of a drug is too long, it simply means that its volume of distribution is large, their rate of clearance is slow, and they are cumulative in nature, all this is narration is embellished with apt examples, and then I clarified one more concept, that there may be different demands of drug administration depending upon the clinical state of patient, if there is no emergency, then its good if drug goes at its own pace, but if there is an emergency, then definitely, its a waste of time to let go of drug at its pace, hence accordingly the drug administration will vary, all this talk will lead u in a new topic, a new concept which we ought not converse about today, so leaving the incomplete. to complete tomorrow, I will call to halt today's episode, till next one, do follow me here, rate and review on ITunes, Apple podcasts, wishing you all a great week ahead, stay safe and healthy thank you!!!
