Welcome all to IS PHARMACOLOGY DIFFICULT Podcast! I am Dr Radhika Vijay, In today's episode, I will be talking about Enzyme Induction, first of all covering the evolutionary part of induction and how do I derive the concept of being induced, its explained by an apt example of alcohol, how regular drinking induces liver enzymes, so tolerance is acquired. Then I will tell you some important properties of Inducing substances, the are lipid soluble, they are substrates, they have long half life, then I will throw light on rate of enzyme turnover as it determines onset and offset of enzyme induction. Enzyme inducing substances are restricted in humans as compared to animals. Then I will direct my discussion towards a definition of enzyme induction. I will tell you the site of enzyme induction and then I will be talking about details of process as it involves formation of proteins, its a quite gradual process, and the fading of enzyme induction is also gradual. Then before further comments, I will be halting my conversation of the day. Till next episode, do follow me here, please rate and review on ITunes, Apple podcasts, Happy learning, thank you!!
