I am Dr Radhika Vijay, In today's episode I will take a step ahead in stairs of plasma protein binding and give you more jewels of information, Firstly we will get to learn about basic concepts that acidic drugs bind mainly to Albumin, then next step is to know about Albumin as to its molecular net charge, then how it binds basic drugs so much in amount and then readily release them, making it high capacity and low affinity, while its totally opposite for acidic drugs that it has only two binding sites for acidic drugs but the binding is very strong making it low capacity but high affinity, so thats quite interesting and surprising fact! Then I will be sharing some quick data about drugs like benzodiazepines binding percentage just to support the fact that saturation of plasma proteins is unlikely to the doses of drugs taken by an individual, well!
