Is Satan Real?
Is the devil real or a metaphor for evil?
The devil is real. He is an angel who attempted to rebel against
God. His angelic name was Lucifer. But when he was cast out of Heaven for his rebellion, he became known by his function: Satan = adversary / enemy. Satan is a coward. Satan and his demons (fallen angels) have a mission which is to hurt the heart of God by tempting Gods children to sin and tormenting humankind to distract them away from the saving Grace of Jesus Christ. God permits this as part of the evil and suffering which has a purpose in this world. To drive us to the foot of the cross humbly for His salvation.
Jesus reassures us:
“You are the salt of the earth…” – Matthew 5:13
We are under his care and His protection, and we have His authority to renounce Satan bu the authority of the name of Jesus.
