Join guest’s Lead Pastor Phil Hopper and Jon Whitehead of Whitehead Law, in discussing the inequality of the HR5 Equality Act, and our Christian response.
The U.S. Constitution gets redefined generation after generation at the mercy of cultural whim, since the Supreme Court lies downstream from culture. Though the bill is titled “equality act” it seems to be giving rights to one group while taking away rights from another. Specifically, impacting religious liberty.
A true Christian is someone who reads their Bible, and trusts that what Jesus says is true, and stands by it. In the same vein, being American citizens, Christians shouldn’t stand in the way of someone’s rights, for instance a legal gay marriage, no matter if the law is corrupt. But a Christian should stand in the way of anyone who tries to take away the rights of religious people to live according to the dictates of their conscience.
The implication of this bill would be an attack on the ability of religious Americans who stand by biblical beliefs about men and women, to disagree with the new standard of acceptance.
When faced with enormous opposition, we’re called to love people well, stand for truth, and get involved politically. As Christians we need to be living proof of a loving God to a watching world.
