Is the EACC Dead? The Failure of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission in Kenya

Kenya’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has long been a symbol of hope for many who believed that corruption could finally be rooted out of the country. However, today we can confidently say that the EACC has failed. It has become a toothless institution, unable to hold corrupt politicians accountable. Under the leadership of a bishop, the EACC has done nothing significant to combat the rampant corruption that is destroying Kenya. Instead, it has become a symbol of failure, with its leadership enjoying lavish lifestyles, while the citizens continue to suffer. What is the point of having a bishop as the chairman when the EACC has done nothing to tackle corruption?

The EACC’s Failure: No Action, Only Flashy Cars and Fat Salaries

The EACC’s primary responsibility is to fight corruption. It is tasked with investigating corrupt individuals, holding them accountable, and ensuring that public funds are not misused. But what has it achieved under its current leadership? Absolutely nothing. Instead of making strides in fighting corruption, the EACC has become a symbol of failure. With its leadership driving flashy cars, living in expensive homes, and drawing fat salaries, there is nothing tangible to show for their work. The EACC should be a commission working for the people, not for the personal gain of its leaders.
