Is the GP system in Northern Ireland 'at risk of complete destabilisation'?

UTV Correspondent Gareth Wilkinson speaks to Chair of the Royal Colleges of GPs in Northern Ireland, Dr Ursula Mason, about the current pressures facing the health system.

There are 320 practices in Northern Ireland, with around 25% of GPs aged 55 or over.

The RCGP says Northern Ireland’s primary care system is at risk of complete destabilisation.

Around 30 GP practices are on the brink of handing back their contracts, while 13 have already done so in the last 12 months, which is an unprecedented number.
