If someone asked you to define success right now, what would you say? That's precisely one of the questions I asked one of my latest guests on my podcast. For many, the answer defaults to classic things like money, properties, titles, being popular, etc.
In one of my latest podcasts, my guest admitted that he hasn't found the one definition, but he knows what he wants it to include. In his case, success is "that I live from rest in a playful state, aligned with who I'm created to be." Now, that's a powerful definition, don't you think?
It's powerful because it is a radical shift from the culture of constant hustle, and at the core of it is the idea of alignment. When your values and your actions are aligned, then your purpose is unlocked, and everyone around you profits from that. Arjan argues that this authenticity is actually your specific "added value" to the world. As he beautifully puts it, "Success means, in a way, that I'm a big blessing for someone else."
Whether we define success as having enough to eat and a roof over our heads, a certain amount of money or properties, or achieving X and Y, Arjan's perspective reminds us that the version of success that brings lasting joy is the one where we are most authentically ourselves.
So, let us ask ourselves: are we just busy, or are we living with integrity?
