As followers of Jesus Christ, He has promised us life and that life more abundantly!  Though we might be born again this abundant life is experienced only through the fruit of the Spirit in us. Our flesh is continually getting in the way.
We've been given a new heart and the Holy Spirit as a pledge to our inheritance in Christ but we still have to deal with our flesh as long as we walk on this earth. There is so much of what we do, including much of what we do that we associate with our faith that is nothing more than our flesh accomplishing dead works. 
We are not growing in faith or in intimacy with the God who loves us. We are not seeing our lives or the lives of those around us being transformed into the image of Christ. Our flesh is the great pretender. We have been self-deceived! Our flesh desires recognition, glory, comfort, convenience, and satisfaction and so doing we have turned over the abundant life Jesus promised us for the corruption and vanity of the world. 
Let's open up the gospel and see what we are missing and how we can all that God has prepared for us to know and experience through the life of the Spirit.
