The prosperity of Israel became a backdrop for complacency and compromise. The nation had grown far from God in their hearts, and they were becoming proud of their sin. Isaiah reminds us that God's patience should never be mistaken for His approval of our lifestyle. When things are going well for us, we need to be all the more diligent to remain devoted to, and dependent upon God.
