“Second Chance”                 Isaiah 7:10-17

            

·        He is a horrible King: 2 Chron 28:1-4

·        In spite of his track record, God keeps his promise to the house of david (V-13) 
         2 Sam 7:16

·        For us God’s love trumps our rebellion: John 3:16 

·        Faith transcends evidence: Luke 16:30-31

·        Before belief we are spiritually dead:  Eph 2:4-5

·        He takes scripture out of Context; Proof arising from doubt and rebellion: Dt. 6:16

·        To not believe in God, serves the purpose of Selfishness:

The philosopher who finds no meaning in the world is not concerned exclusively with a problem in pure metaphysics, he is also concerned to prove that there is no valid reason why he personally should not do as he wants to do, or why his friends should not seize political power and govern in the way that they find most advantageous to themselves. … For myself, the philosophy of meaninglessness was essentially an instrument of liberation, sexual and political. (Huxley)

·        Remember Lk. 16:30

·        Deliverance: The disappearance of Aram and Israel  would be seen as God was 
                                with them: 2 Kings 16:7-9

·        Future: God will raise up from the wreckage a true son of David:  Mt. 1:20-23

·          The gospel is both good news and bad news.  
           Good if you accept his gift but bad if you reject it: 2 Pet 3:9

·          The result was not the security which faith could have brought,  but unparalleled 
           disaster. Assyria the nation’s savior has now turned executioner:  Isaiah 8:7-10

 

·          Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus
            Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the 
            Holy Spirit. Act 2:38
