We often believe that the means are what produce the result.
Food satisfies our hunger. Medicine brings healing. Hard work creates success. Skill wins competitions.
But Islam teaches a deeper reality: the means themselves possess no independent power. Every outcome occurs only because Allah wills it.
In this powerful Islamic reminder, Ousama Alshurafa explains the true Islamic understanding of cause and effect, showing that Allah alone creates every result while worldly means are simply part of His wisdom and divine decree. We are commanded to take the means, but our hearts should rely upon Allah alone.
A person may eat and remain hungry. Someone may receive treatment and not recover. One athlete may prepare perfectly and still lose, while another succeeds against the odds. These examples remind us that the means do not independently produce outcomes. Success, provision, healing, victory and every blessing come only by Allah’s permission.
The Qur’an teaches that nothing occurs without Allah’s knowledge and decree. Every event, from the smallest detail to the greatest worldly affair, reflects His perfect wisdom. Recognising Allah’s hand behind every moment transforms the way we view hardship, success, patience, gratitude and trust.
In this episode you’ll learn:
• How Allah acts through worldly means
• The Islamic understanding of cause and effect
• Why worldly means do not independently create outcomes
• The meaning of tawakkul (reliance upon Allah)
• How qadr (the Divine Decree) shapes every aspect of life
• Why Allah is the Best of Planners
• Why what was written for you will always reach you
• Why what was never meant for you could never have reached you
• How to trust Allah during hardship, uncertainty and delay
• How recognising Allah’s signs increases faith, patience and gratitude
This reminder encourages us to shift our focus from the creation to the Creator. We continue to work hard, seek treatment, pursue knowledge and take the appropriate means, but we recognise that Allah alone controls every outcome.
Every blessing is from Allah. Every trial happens with His wisdom. Every opportunity comes by His permission. Every closed door contains wisdom, even if we cannot yet see it.
May this lecture strengthen your tawakkul, deepen your yaqeen (certainty), and increase your trust in Allah’s perfect plan.
