According to the hadith of Abu Huraira, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that when a person fights with his brother, he must avoid hitting the face. Based on this hadith, Islamic scholars clearly forbid hitting the face, even for punishment or discipline. They explain that the face is delicate and is the main place of beauty, so Shariah does not allow striking it. Some scholars also point out that the wording of the hadith shows that the ruling is one of prohibition.
