Many in the church will seek to avoid controversy no matter what. Whether they are fearful of cancel culture or misapplying verses about worthless controversy, many leaders in the church will not publicly oppose the idols of the day. It is often viewed as more virtuous to be a slave to today's idols than it is to call out those enslaved.
