This is ISPod Mini, a short episode focusing on the music and thoughts of one individual writer from the many who partcipated in the Irish Songwriter Podcast.

Originally from Ballyfermot in Dublin, Declan O'Rourke now lives on the west coast of Ireand. He is frequently namechecked in the talk of 'influences' by the Irish Songwriters I've spoken to and is both critcially and internationally acclaimed.

He has recently released a new album, “The Chronicles Of The Great Irish Famine”, a collection of stories untold about a dark part of Irish, and one would have to add British, History. It's a project that required 16 years to complete and on the very cusp of it's release, Declan took the time to talk to me from his tour in Cincinnati, Ohio.

We spoke about the new album, his thoughts about art, harmony and love and also that feeling of interregnum, a lull in energy on the completion of a creative project.
