Israelis turn guinea pigs as 3rd COVID dose rolled out

Listen Later

Welcome to The Times of Israel’s Daily Briefing, your 15-minute audio update on what’s happening in Israel, the Middle East, and the Jewish world, from Sunday through Thursday.
Today’s panel comprises diplomatic correspondent Lazar Berman and health reporter Nathan Jeffay, along with host Amanda Borschel-Dan.
On Thursday, an alleged Iranian drone attack killed a Romanian and British citizen on the Israeli-managed MT Mercer Street oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman. Foreign Minister Yair Lapid has called for an international response in talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and “joint activities against Iranian terrorism and the formulation of a substantive and effective international response,” according to a Lapid tweet.
Next, we hear about the pluses and minuses of Israel’s campaign to give those over 60 a third dose of the Pfizer COVID vaccine. Jeffay also brings a new test that may help doctors evaluate how much a patient could deteriorate from the virus, very early on.
Berman updates us about the three-week saga of three Israeli filmmakers who were arrested in Nigeria while making a documentary about Igbo Jews.
Then, a humanitarian ripple effect in light of the Abraham Accords: a domino kidney donation between the United Arab Emirates and Israel.
And finally, we speak baseball with super-fan Berman and the status of the sport in Israel.
Discussed articles include:
