Chewing Water

Issue #4 (Subtitled: "Arcade")

Listen Later

Are people capable of losing themselves in video games the same way as they can books, music, movies, or paintings? By participating in the story, are gamers actually becoming more engaged with the piece of work or are is more distance being created as "progressing" becomes the dominate goal instead of "processing." Can participatory events be considered art and, if not, where does that leave participatory performance art exhibits? Was Roger Ebert actually a good film critic or did the collective consciousness "change its mind" at some point around 2005? Was this change out of irony and then developed into sympathy as his health declined? If death creates levity on work can it create levity on the criticism of the work as well? This issue explores these topics and more.
