On October 14-15, the Federalist Society's Kentucky lawyers chapters hosted their annual conference via online webinars. The first panel of the conference covered "Issues in Election Law and Election Integrity."
During the 2020 session of the General Assembly, the state’s legislature enacted measures designed to promote election integrity, culminating in SB 2—the state’s voter ID law. That law is currently being litigated, but is otherwise poised to be in effect for the November 2020 general election. Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kentucky shifted the date of its primary election and conducted the primary almost entirely by absentee ballot. This panel will address each of these issues along with expectations for the general election in November, both in terms of election procedures and election law issues likely to emerge.
