The Season of Advent has become a largely secular, worldly affair. The world views it (the days leading up to Christmas) as their "Christmas celebration." Rather than tell the story of Christ, the world tells countless other stories.

In our Gospel reading, Luke gives "an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word (Luke 1:1-2). In doing so, he offers an insight into the Christmas narrative often overlooked – the day Jesus was conceived.
