Our midweek Lenten series has explored what took place In Jesus' life on the three days between Palm Sunday and Maundy Thursday. Tonight we examine the more familiar events of Friday during Holy Week.

On Good Friday, we observe the culmination of Jesus' mission on our behalf. During the days leading up to the events of this day, He allowed Judas's kiss of betrayal to mark Him as the one to be seized and arrested. He stood silently as Caiaphas and the Sanhedrin forced through His unjust conviction and a sentence of death. He was crowned with thorns and forced to carry His cross to the Place of the Skull. Nails pierced His hands and feet as He was lifted up for all to see and mock. Although He had twice heard the words of His Father declare from heaven, "This is My beloved Son," on this day His Father was silent. When everything was completed, He declared for all to hear, "It is finished."
