Catholic Daily Readings and Reflection | Wednesday after Epiphany | January 7, 2026
You are exactly where you are supposed to be, and everything is falling apart anyway.
The disciples did not wander into that storm. Jesus made them get in the boat. He pushed them out and disappeared to pray. They spent nine hours rowing against wind that would not quit, and then at 3 AM, a figure appeared walking across the waves.
They screamed. Thought it was a ghost. Looked straight at rescue and saw a nightmare.
Maybe you have done the same thing. Maybe Jesus has been walking toward you through something impossible, and you almost missed him because he did not look like what you expected.
He did not scold them. He just said: It is I. I am here. I see you. I knew the storm was coming when I put you in the boat. I was never going to let you drown.
Then he climbed in and sat down. And the wind stopped. Not because he commanded it this time. Just because he was there.
Whatever storm you are in today, stop rowing for a minute. Look up. That figure coming toward you is not a ghost.
