On this episode my friend Patrick and his wife came down to Nashville, so I lined up a movie I’ve loved for years: It Might Get Loud (2008), directed by Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth). The film brings together three iconic guitarists—Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, The Edge of U2, and Jack White of The White Stripes—and strips away the noise to focus on their stories, sounds, and philosophies on music.

I chose this one partly because it’s one of my favorites, but also because I knew Pat isn’t exactly a Jack White fan… and he didn’t realize Jack was one of the stars. Perfect setup.

In this episode, we talk about our own musical influences, the so-called “death of the guitar,” and our favorite guitarists and artist in general we’ve learned to appreciate. We also debate what a sequel could look like—who should be cast, and how today’s guitar scene could carry the torch from Page, Edge, and White.

It’s a mix of movie talk, music nostalgia, and a little friendly trolling—exactly what Movie Boarding is all about.
