Freedom is one of the most coveted things that every person longs for! But one of the most important questions that we must ask is; freedom from what? Most people are seeking the freedom to do! Freedom has become a self-seeking, self-satisfying desire that at some point becomes at odds with those around us that are seeking the same thing!
When we read in Galatians 5:1 that It was for freedom that Christ died, two questions come to my mind. Freedom from what? Why did Christ have to die for it?
The freedom that Christ died for was to set us free from the corruption of our flesh, sin, and the world. He died that we might become sons and daughters of God. Our freedom is discovered as we by faith rest in the loving sacrifice of Jesus Christ that reconciles back into a relationship with God the Father!
God subjected mankind to futility after sin entered the world and was passed down to each of us in hopes that we would be set free from the corruption that was in the world and is brought into the glory and freedom that is found in being children of God!
Let's look to the gospel and discover the freedom that Jesus died for!
