Here’s the Ithaca Minute for October 19th!
This Tuesday, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of 14850 Magazine with an event at Luna Inspired Street Food, and Mayor Svante Myrick issued a proclamation naming it 14850 Magazine Day in the City of Ithaca!
We teamed up with Luna Inspired Street Food in Collegetown to help them introduce their new fall menu to the community, and we used the occasion to raise money for our friends at the Just Be Cause Center.
Early next Wednesday afternoon, Cornell University is conducting a test of its emergency mass notification systems. Sirens on campus will be heard around Ithaca as the test is conducted at 12:10pm. Cornell says students, faculty, and staff who have registered for personal alerts will receive a text message, an e-mail, or a voice phone call, and CUView information screens on campus and some Cornell web sites will display an emergency message banner.
And why were four kilted Nebraskans at the Cornell football game on Saturday? The four Omaha-area friends spotted a winning Big Red score scrolling across an ESPN broadcast, and “Go Cornell!” became a rallying cry that eventually brought them to Ithaca.
