Ithaca Minute – Cyclist released, Commons brawl, GrassRoots

Listen Later

Here’s the Ithaca Minute from 14850 Today for April 10th.
A bicyclist injured in a collision with a motor vehicle on Sunday afternoon in Ithaca’s west end has been released from a regional trauma center following treatment, according to the Ithaca Police Department. IPD public information officer Jamie Williamson says IPD is not ready to release information about the details of the collision or suspected causes. Police told us Sunday afternoon that the crash had occurred near the intersection of West State Street and Floral Avenue in Ithaca’s west end.
One individual hitting another in the face on the Ithaca Commons escalated into an incident that left police officers injured and resulted in multiple arrests in the wee hours of Saturday. According to IPD, at about 1:20am, “officers witnessed a male subject run across the Commons and strike another male subject in the face, knocking him to the ground.” As officers ran toward the fight, a bystander “attacked an officer from behind, repeatedly striking him in the head. She then struck a second officer in the face before being taken into custody.”
And the performer lineup for the 2019 GrassRoots Festival was released Monday, and it features dozens of local, regional, and world touring acts. The Taj Mahal Quartet, Rising Appalachia, Hayley Jane & The Primates, Garifuna Collective, and Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad are among the hot headliners.
