Ithaca Minute – GreenStar employee tests positive, free masks

Here’s the Ithaca Minute from 14850 Today for May 15th. The Tompkins County Health Department says they’ve “received notification that a GreenStar employee tested positive for COVID-19. The individual worked multiple shifts at the GreenStar location at 770 Cascadilla Street this weekend.” GreenStar’s new flagship Ithaca store opened just last week. Health Department officials say customers who went inside the store during the employee’s three shifts could have been exposed: Friday, May 8th, 7am-3:15pm Saturday, May 9th, 7am-3:15pm Monday, May 11th, 10:30am-7pm. If you shopped at GreenStar at those times the Health Department suggests you get tested at the Cayuga Health Sampling Site, which is open extended hours Friday, May 15th, 9am-4pm. The Friends of Stewart Park will be giving out free cloth face masks to those who need them this Saturday, May 16, from 1-3pm. They quote Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s statement: “Why wear a mask? Out of respect. When you wear a mask you are saying, I respect my neighbors. When you wear a mask you are saying, I respect nurses and doctors.
