Listen Later

Here’s the Ithaca Minute from 14850 Today for January 22nd.

Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Quik Shoppe on Ithaca’s northside early on Sunday evening. According to an IPD statement, “a suspect entered the Quik Shoppe, approached the counter, and then asked the clerk for all of the money in the register while displaying a handgun that was tucked into his pants waistband.”

According to IPD, the clerk described the suspect as a black male, about 5’7″ tall, slim build, wearing a ski mask, dark colored pants, jacket, and shoes.

And a pair of shutouts for freshman goalie Matthew Galajda this weekend leaves Cornell men’s ice hockey in a tie for first place in the ECAC. The Big Red beat Colgate at home on Friday night and again in Hamilton on Saturday. Clarkson’s first loss of the season in conference play on Saturday tips them out of the solo first-place spot in the standings.

Anthony Angello scored both goals on Friday night for Cornell against the visiting Raiders, and a pair of freshmen, Cam Donaldson and Kyle Betts, got the pair of tallies on Saturday. Cornell travels to Harvard and Dartmouth next weekend.
