The Ithaca Police Department says they again responded to a report of shots fired late Friday night in the area of South Titus and Geneva or South Cayuga and Clinton Streets, and “a white sports car was observed leaving the area immediately after the gunshots.” A statement from IPD Sergeant Mary Orsaio says no victims were found in the vicinity early Sat morning, and the investigation is continuing. The Ithaca Police Department says officers responded Saturday morning to a report of a suspicious backpack located on the railroad tracks west of Fulton Street near Agway and Ithaca’s “Jungle” area. The caller who found the bag suspected it might contain meth-making materials. Police discovered it to be an active one-pot meth lab and called in the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team to assist. The New York State Police say 52-year-old Cortland resident Douglas C. Linderberry was pronounced dead at the scene of Saturday afternoon’s one-car crash in the Town of Groton, at the area of Davis and Lafayette Roads.
