The very essence of fly fishing is using a bug, aka fly, to catch a fish. Today we talk about flies in some very basic terms. So what are dry flies, wet flies, nymphs, streamers, midges, caddis, mayflies, woolly bugger’s and junk flies? Listen in to hear the FGF girls talk about these. Each fly has a season and a reason to use it in certain scenarios. It could mean the difference in your day’s catch or your days getting skunked on the river.

We don’t expect you to know all the entomology of insects, but by starting with the basics you can begin to feel more confident out on the water by selecting the right fly for the situation you’re in.
