In this episode, we welcome our first guest to the podcast. Chris Cormier from Geeky Goodies joins us in the studio to talk about what he loves about gaming, his favorite tabletop game of the moment (Viticulture), and the exciting things that are happening on his website. Chris is part of the vibrant Toronto gaming community, who has a passion for board gaming and loves to share his hobby with others. As far as games, Chris, Anna and Myron recently played several new games at Meet New Friends Day at BoardGameBliss. Codenames by Czech Games challenges teams to work together to decrypt their board. A spymaster on each team knows the correct answers, and must give clues to help their team members decipher the puzzle. It’s a competitive game, where things can get a little heated. Myron didn’t much care for the intensity of the game, but Chris and Anna really enjoyed it. Chris gave it 4 strips of bacon and after some consideration Anna agreed with his rating. JT’s interest is piqued and she’s hoping for a magical Amazon offer in the future.

Centrix is a different kind of game, with a fun and inventive pyramid of movable rings. Created by Richard MacRae in Toronto, it’s an enjoyable 3D spinning, jumping, and bumping game which started as a Kickstarter and is now available in stores. Myron and Anna both loved the game, the board, and the continually evolving tactics. Chris also enjoyed the game, however felt it went a little long with 6 players.
