Yesterday (Tuesday) the Human Sciences Research Council launched their research report into the Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress grant and social protection in the country. The report entitled ‘It’s a lifeline, But it’s not enough’ looked at what an adult’s experience is when applying for the SRD grant and how it impacted their lives. Now if you have been listening to this show, many of our listeners have been complaining about the process and how long they have to wait before they can finally access the funds. What then does this research teaches us and what picture is it painting?
Guest: Abigail Peters – Paralegal Fieldworker for Black Sash
Guest: Dr Candice Groenewald – Chief Research Specialist in the Human and Social Capabilities Division at the Human Sciences Research Council
