It’s a sun brightened morning

the night chill’s finally warming

and the birds are all horning in

with their melodies

as if their bird brains

are filled up with pure jealousy

because they can’t sing like me.

As I play my guitar and

my voice is exploring

lyrics that fit to

my latest outpouring

Then a chipmunk pops up

to see what’s going on

cause the world

was so peaceful

since he woke up at dawn

and he squats and he listens

for a moment or two

so I throw him a cheeto

and he squats and he chews

for what seems like long, hours

cause that cheetos so "BIG!"

then he dashes away

to perch high on a twig

sitting up in a cheap seats

far from my latest gig

"Go Fig!"

I do most of my writing when

I’m enjoying nature

it’s beauty and fresh air

help me much when I labor

to blend words with the notes

in a way that is pleasant

although it’s not made me rich

as I 'm still a poor peasant.

But I entertain birds and

I make chipmunks happy

until something big occurs

and I win my first grammy

then I’ll raise up a monument

near my deck where it’s grassy

perhaps a marble bird bath

for the birds, nothing flashy

with a cheeto dispenser

at the bottom to please

My furry, little friend

who comes to visit me.

And a plaque at

he base that

gives thanks to

the creatures

who were there

when I’d written

my chart topping feature...

though I don’t expect

this will be my latest hit

though It’s cute and it’s funny

and it holds some great wit….

But my soul doesn’t care

I just like sitting there

making music from nothing

in my plastic lawn chair

with all my work for the birds

and a cute chipmunk's stare.

I'm not really bothered

by the bird's jealousy

as I'm munching on Cheeto's

and trying to be

a Rock Star someday

going down in history

and sipping my coffee
