We live in an age of distraction and the belief in quick results. We measure success by outcomes; more sales, increased revenue, better grades, increased net worth. I'm not against trying to achieve outcomes. However, the reality is that great outcomes are driven by becoming less attached to the outcomes and more attached to the process. 

A great example of this was the rise of Japan as an industrial powerhouse after the second world war. What was their secret? Their secret was an absolute commitment to process and incremental improvement. Sure they had dreams and goals. But they knew that they would achieve great results if they focused on the present.
