The process of decluttering starts with a simple question: Keep or toss?

But what happens when you can't decide what to keep or what to toss? It ends up in the "maybe" pile. Often, our Maybe pile is quite large because we struggle with determining if it is in fact clutter. Is this very "useful item" really just another piece of clutter? The vase your mother-in-law gave you (that you never really liked), is this a keep or a toss? What makes clutter, clutter?

The definition of clutter is "anything that impedes movement." This can apply to your physical, emotional, financial, and social spaces. A couple of good guiding questions to ask: Is holding on to this item preventing me from moving forward? Does this item have a designated spot in my house? Do I even WANT this?
