Welcome, My name is Tracey Cook and this is the podcast series Victim to Victory. This series gives a voice to those who have overcome challenges in all forms, that dare greatly to share their real stories, that have seen hope and rose above those adversities to become victorious, to go on to support and inspire others to do the same.
S.E. German has a master’s degree in Social Sciences and is passionate about environmental and health issues. She is the host of the “Learning to Slay the Beasts Podcast” and manages the accompanying blog focussed on overcoming life’s challenges, such as mental health issues, obesity, autoimmune disorders and food allergies.
She started writing later in life after being encouraged by a mentor at her day job. She began with a blog called 'Real Life Project' in 2011 and then writing for online magazines. After taking a break to have her second child, she began the 'Learning to Slay the Beasts' blog and eventually would write her first novel.
Her first fiction novel “Pendulum” is based on her experiences with a pediatric neuroimmune disorder called PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections). She is hopeful that “Pendulum” will contribute to much needed conversations on mental health and family health care and help children to build resilience, accept themselves, see their value and respect each other’s diversity.
She writes in Ontario, Canada where she lives with her husband and two children.
