On this week's episode of Beyond the Break presented by the HBPA of Ontario, host Jamie Attard and the voice of Woodbine, track announcer Robert Geller recap the week that was Thoroughbred horse racing in the province, including stakes action from Woodbine on August 3rd and 4th. Christophe Clement ship in Loon Cry took the Sweet Briar Too Stakes (14:25) under leading jockey Sahin Civaci, the second legs of the 2024 Ontario Sired Heritage Series would see the Kevin Attard trained Live Lucky remain undefeated, winning his third in a row to capture the Lake Superior Stakes (18:42), and Mark Casse's Olivia Rose would turn the tables on a game and determined Little Teddy to win the Thunder Bay Stakes (21:24). Jamie is joined by apprentice jockey Pietro Moran (39:35) who shares the story of his early life in Ireland before arriving in Canada and how the support of his large and tight knit family has helped him find so much success in just in first full season as a jockey. We then take a look ahead to the week of racing to come (1:11:17), highlighted by Woodbine oaks winner Kin's Concerto hoping to capture the second leg of the Canadian Triple Tiara in the Bison City Stakes and 2023 Canadian Stakes Champion Moira looking to defend her crown in this year's edition on August 10th.
