I have always hated celebrating my birthday. The idea of it has always seemed so selfish to me. I have a younger sister with a December birthday too and I remember when we were poor enough it was a real struggle. My mom barely made ends meet all year and when December came around it was extra food extra heat Christmas AND two birthdays she needed to supply for while living paycheck to paycheck. Because of this the desire to not want to be a financial burden is still alive and VERY well in me today. But I'm celebrating ANYWAY!! Even if it feels uncomfortable. Listen to find out why.
