Readings for the 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Romans 6:3-4, 8-11; Matthew 10:37-42
Jesus continues to prepare His followers to go out and bring the Gospel to the world. And what does that look like? It looks like loving God before everything else in our lives. That includes parents. That includes children. It even includes ourselves. Paul reminds us that we are dead to our own agendas and we now live for God. But don't confuse the two. They are not polar opposites. It is less either/or and more both/and
