Doug Plank joins the show today, a former NFL Safety that played for the Chicago Bears from 1975 to 1982. He also played for The Ohio State Buckeyes winning three Big Ten Titles and participating in three consecutive Rose Bowls.

In this episode, our hosts Matt Butkus and Matt Amendola talk to Doug about how the Bears used to run their defense when Buddy Ryan was the Defensive Coordinator and how Doug originally had no interest in football at first. Doug shares some memories with old teammate and special guest, Kris Haines.

“The 46 Defense” Defensive Coordinator, Buddy Ryan, dubbed the name after his entire defense from Doug’s jersey number, for his hard-hitting aggressive style. Doug Plank is considered one of the hardest-hitting Safeties of all time.
