On today's podcast, It's Only Sport host Martin Devlin focusses on the two oval-ball codes with rugby union and rugby league front of mind. Devlin kicks things off delivering a sermon about the Warriors and their upcoming NRL clash against the Raiders in Canberra. This is the start of a vital run of games to finish the regular season for the Mount Smart club, and anything short of victory this weekend could be fatal to their finals hopes.

Devlin's first guest is fellow Platform host Michael Laws, who joins the show to remember former All Blacks hooker Norm Hewitt, who passed away on Tuesday aged 55. Laws wrote Hewitt's autobiography Gladiator and they shared a strong friendship. He details to Devlin what Hewitt was like as a person, and how he overcame a tough upbringing, alcohol abuse and violence, and turned his life around for the better.

Devlin then chats with league legend Mark Geyer to preview the third Origin clash, as well as Irish rugby writer Pat McCarry to recap his home nation's win over the Springboks, and Matt Gunn who is positive about Australian rugby and league.
