In June 1947, Kenneth Arnold, while flying his plane near Mt. Rainier in Washington State, witnessed nine silvery discs hurtling quickly past him in the sky. Upon reporting this sighting to the press, the local newspapers coined the term “Flying Saucers” to describe the craft that he saw. Shanelle will discuss her grandfather’s famous encounter, his book, “The Coming of the Saucers,” how he reached out to Presidents Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower, and her thoughts about where we stand today with the rapidly burgeoning Disclosure Movement.
