It’s Party Time!

(Luke 14:16-24 NLT)

Jesus replied with this story: “A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations. (17) When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to tell the guests, ‘Come, the banquet is ready.’ (18) But they all began making excuses. One said, ‘I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.’ (19) Another said, ‘I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.’ (20) Another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’ (21) “The servant returned and told his master what they had said. His master was furious and said, ‘Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’ (22) After the servant had done this, he reported, ‘There is still room for more.’ (23) So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full. (24) For none of those I first invited will get even the smallest taste of my banquet.’”

1.Why do we send invitations?

Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.

2.But, how do we send invitations?

When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to tell the guests, ‘Come, the banquet is ready.’

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.

3.Many will find hope

イエスは、遠回しにたとえでお答えになりました。「ある人が盛大な宴会を催そうと、大ぜいの人に招待状を送りました。 (17) 準備がすっかり整ったので、召使に、『宴会が始まる時間です』とふれ回らせました。 (18) ところがなんと、招待客はみな、そろいもそろって口実をつくり、出席を断り始めたのです。一人は、ちょうど畑を買ったところなので、これから見に行かなければならないと断り、 (19) ほかの人は、五くびき（十頭）の牛を買ったので試してみたいと言いわけをしました。 (20) またある人は、結婚したばかりで行くことができないと断りました。 (21) 召使は戻り、そのとおり主人に報告しました。主人はかんかんになって怒り、『よし、それなら、今度は大通りや裏通りに行って、貧しい人や体の不自由な人、足の不自由な人、盲人たちを残らず招待して来なさい』と命じました。 (22) そうやって客を集めても、会場にはまだ空席が目立ちます。 (23) それで、主人は言いました。『もうこうなったら、家がいっぱいになるように、街道や垣根の外へ行って、出会った者はだれでも、むりにでも連れて来なさい。 (24) 初めに招待した者たちの中には、宴会の食事を味わうことのできる者は一人もいないのだ。』」

1.なぜ招待状を送るの？

空腹の者には食べ物を分け与え、身寄りのない者、暮らしに困っている者を家に迎えること、それがおまえに望むことだ。寒さに震えている者には着物を着せ、親族が助けを求めるなら助けを惜しまないことだ。

2.でもどうやって招待状を送ったらいいの？
