It's that time of the month. Aunt Flow is visiting and your loved ones have called in a Code Red. Why are you all of a sudden craving french fries, crying at commercials, and ready to divorce your husband over the way he loads the dishwasher?
In this episode of Health Her Way, hosts Meredith Cunningham and Brooklyn Elbert welcome Angela Westfall, certified nurse midwife at Covenant Health, to break down the stages of the menstrual cycle, what’s actually happening with your hormones throughout the month, and why your body and emotions can feel different from week to week. We’ll also share practical tips for managing the “P” word, your period, and knowing what’s normal and what’s not.
Angela Westfall Bio:
Angela is a board-certified nurse midwife at Covenant Health and a graduate from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing Nurse-Midwifery Program in 2013. She works collaboratively with the Covenant OB/GYN physicians to provide evidence-based quality gynecologic care to women. She has experience caring for women in the specialty of lactation and parent education as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a childbirth educator. In addition, Angela has cared for women and their infants as a nurse since 2002 and has nursing experience in gynecology, antepartum, postpartum and newborn nursery areas. She received her certification as a Maternal Newborn Nurse in 2011. Angela offers healthcare to women of all ages, including those with special care needs. She is passionate about empowering women to be active partners in directing their healthcare. Angela believes each woman is unique and deserves individualized health care to maximize their quality of life.
