March 20, 2022 ~ Vanessa interviewed Daija Butler, director of planning for Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency They discussed the Detroit Residents First Fund is now accepting applications for its second round of funding, after the historic partnership launched this past summer. The Fund is comprised of partners The Ford Foundation, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency, Community Development Advocates of Detroit, Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Family Foundation and Skillman Foundation. Using a participatory grantmaking model – the first of its kind in Detroit – the Fund aims to invest in Detroit-based, grassroots nonprofit organizations, led by Black, indigenous or other persons of color, with the least access to power and social capital, who are working to transform Detroit’s neighborhoods.
