ITV has confirmed that Midsomer Murders will return for its 26th series, featuring four brand-new feature-length episodes. This milestone brings the show’s total number of cases to 148, proving that no village in Midsomer is ever truly safe.

Neil Dudgeon and Nick Hendrix will reprise their roles as DCI Barnaby and DS Winter, continuing the beloved detective partnership. They will be joined once again by Annette Badland and Fiona Dolman, keeping the series’ ensemble strong and recognisable. ITV has described the show as a “ratings hit,” noting that its dedicated ITVX channel remains the platform’s most-watched FAST channel since launch.

Filming for series 25 wrapped earlier this summer, and with new stories already lined up, viewers can expect investigations to continue into 2026. For long-time fans, it’s another reassuring sign that Midsomer’s mysteries aren’t slowing down anytime soon.
